Import and export in San Diego County.

Material movement and site logistics to support elevations, production sequencing and changing field conditions.

THE SCOPE

Material movement for the site.

Import and export is material movement for a production site. It brings material in when a street, pad, or phase is short, and it takes material out when the site is long. The point is elevation and sequence. When the field changes, the haul has to change with it or the next scope waits.

Haul trucks move material on the site and on the project. The named job is export at Cota Vera, for Lennar single-family and multifamily development. Street subgrade, base, and fine grading were on that same job, so the export had to stay in sequence with the street work and the finish.

01

Field conditions

A production site is rarely in balance when the crew arrives. A street section can be short. A pad can be long. One phase can be ready for base while another is still being cut. Import covers the shortage. Export gets surplus material off the grade so the next crew can work. At Cota Vera the recorded movement was export, on a Lennar development building both single-family and multifamily product. The same site still had to make subgrade, place base, and fine grade. The haul is planned around those elevations.

02

Equipment

Haul trucks are the machines for this scope. They carry material across the site and off the project. Loaders handle loading and the day-to-day material the trucks are moving. Where the work is cut-and-fill across a larger site, scrapers are the production machines. Dozers push and rough-shape the ground those hauls are built from. Which combination runs depends on the balance that day and on the phase the builder is trying to free.

03

Coordination

The haul is there to unblock other grading. At Cota Vera, export shared the job with street subgrade, base, and fine grading. Material left in a street section, or a grade still short of elevation, holds the next crew. Trucks have to run with the street work, with the finish graders, and with the builder's order between single-family and multifamily areas. The handoff is an elevation the next pass can use, and a working surface clear enough to reach.

04

Production work

Cota Vera puts single-family and multifamily product on one Lennar development. The builder releases that work on its own sequence. A haul has to follow the phase that is actually moving, because a balance written for the whole site can be wrong for the product in front of the crew. Crews and trucks stay with the builder's priority and with the balance the field actually has. Material movement on this scope is there to keep the homes moving.

05

Selected work

Cota Vera is the project tied to this scope. Cal West export there supports Lennar single-family and multifamily development, with street subgrade, base, and fine grading on the same residential job.

06

Service area

The work is in San Diego County. Cota Vera is a Lennar residential development in the county. Other grading on the record includes 3Roots in San Diego and Canopy Grove in Escondido. Company mail goes to Lakeside. The service area is the county.
